Slouchy Boots!

I have had my eye on these "slouchy" Steve Madden's for a while now and I just think they are so adorable! 

I think they would be super cute with a skirt or a dress and tights. Dillards was sold out the last time I checked and Zappos didn't have the black. Zappos had a grey, green, purple maybe, and brown, but I was wanting flat black shoes because I (only) had three pairs of black shoes then. (one pair of four inch peep toe heels and another pair of four inch boots and an old clunker pair of mary janes.) Then I got my super cute ballet flats and so now I'm not sure I have a legitimate reason to need flat slouchy boots, but man they are cute.  

Zappos currently has the black, but for $86 which I'm not prepared to spend. I suppose I'll just be watching and waiting for some time to see if they ever go on sale!

P.S. I had a great dinner with SaRah. We may not have a lot in common, but we have enough to appreciate each other and to be friends! And who doesn't love a dinner that involves a glass of wine and dessert!

The Culmination of my Big day (ahem, days!)

quick post: Going to dinner with Handsome's sister in law SaRah... and I'm sooo excited.

Update on the culmination of my big day turned into 3: Finally(!) finished my presentation in class today. I'm so thankful. I read for one of my other two classes that followed. And I got called on in the class that I thankfully had read for. (Had a feeling I needed to be prepared in there today).  I might add that I was called on with the singularly most difficult question of the day (my friend JC thinks it was the most difficult question of the semester so far... but I digress). Thankfully I had finished the reading and that Professor gave me a little hint and that I was able to pull off some kind of answer. But... not without blushing from embarrassment for being called on without a well-thought out answer, in a class of almost 100 people!

Afterwards I got a sweet hug from the Mr. and he reminded me that when you are in school you're not supposed to know everything and that people learn from other peoples mistakes... so feeling embarrassed when called upon is an OK thing. 

Now I dare say it is time to relax. At least for the evening, and tomorrow it will be back books / joys of school.

The (actual) Big Day!

Today is a big day! 

Presentation for me at school (we should get to me today, but we will see!) and I'm volunteering at a practice-thing tonight. For Mr Rh, it is his big winter event at work. Eeek! I'm praying that registration, etc., go smoothly, and that if something comes up they will be able to fix it quickly,  and he is able to actually enjoy himself.

I'm not one to wish my life and my days away... as each day is a marvelous gift...but boy, oh boy I'm going to be one happy woman when I get home tonight! I'll be ready to snuggle up on the couch with my man and watch something, anything. What comes on on Tuesday night anyway?

This is the day the Lord has made! Let us (me & the Mr. and you as well dear reader) rejoice(!) and be glad in it!

Dinner Update: He had the rest of the pizza last night (who knows when) and I went with him to finish up things at his work...and forgot to eat until we got home. So I had a little toast and tucked myself in as I was exhausted. 

Budget-friendly Cooking.

So in the interest of our budget, Mr Rh and I got on the same team about our eating habits and we have been attempting to eat out less / eat in more. I'm not great at this because I love the event of going out and often like the food too! Not always more than what we can make for ourselves at the house, but sometimes. I'm also not much of one for cold sandwiches aside from peanut butter, but recently there has been a problem with peanut butter.

I'm telling you about this, because I'm hoping it might help keep me on board and encouraged. It also makes the meals more like events! I don't want to be the reason our team fails, so I'm looking for encouragement and ideas! I am also trying to think of a cute way to keep track of menus and recipes and also to make it accessible for other bloggers who might be in a similar situation. :) 

Last night we did alright.  (And we did alright for breakfast too: we had muffins Sunday morning thanks to a mix and a willing husband! ) For dinner, I had tamales that had been frozen since Christmas-time and Mr. Rugged had some pizza left over from our date Saturday night!  We both have big days on Tuesday of this week, so it would be nice if our dinner tonight was simple and pleasant and it would be even better if it was simple and pleasant on Tuesday(I'll be at school fairly late). I think I would be up for tamales again so maybe that is the plan. I'll have to ask Mr. Rh what he would like.  One wonderful thing about my Mr. is that he is super good at taking care of himself! The man's mama taught him well, not too mention the years of he fed himself during college, so even if I don't have a great idea, he will probably be able to scavenge for himself.  

I'll let you know how things go later this week. In between now and then, I would love for you to share your simple recipes / ideas about making dinner at home more special / etc...!
